Lactic acidosis

Lactic acidosis occurs when lactic acid accumulates in the blood stream at a faster rate than it can be eliminated. Lactic acid is produced in the presence of decreased oxygen. The most common cause of increased lactic acid is intensive exercise in which the body builds up an oxygen debt.
